2013 Chateau Miraval Rose
So, everyone still looks at this bottle with trepidation and wonders “is this any good?” You know the story. It’s the Brangelina wine. This is either a good thing, or a bad thing depending on how you feel about Brad Pitt, but there’s more to the story. Chateau Miraval has been around for quite some time. They used to release a rose called Pink Floyd, because there is a recording studio on the property, which Pink Floyd used to record part of The Wall. Brad didn’t just decide one fine day that he was going to make wine. He and his lovely wife, used to visit the area, liked the winery, and bought it. (As rich movie stars are wont to do.) They, being the rich movie stars they are, decided to call up their pal Marc Perrin of Chateau de Beaucastel fame to assist with the wine making. Next thing you know, it’s on Wine Spectator’s top 100, and there you have it. So back to “is this any good?” I can see why you would be suspicious, but it really is good. It’s everything you want a rose to be. Fresh, subtle, nice fruit, and delicious. Don’t judge this book by its cover. Give it a shot!
